  • Year One Marwell Visit

    Thu 05 Mar 2015
Year 1 had a very exciting and interesting educational visit to Marwell Zoo.

The children were very enthusiastic and keen to find out more about rainforests. When we went in the tropical world, the children noticed that it was a lot warmer inside than outside. We saw lots of plants with interesting shaped leaves and some even had fruits growing on them. There were also some geckos, tarantulas and dwarf crocodiles to see as well as many ants travelling in tubes from one area to another.

During the work shop in the Education Centre we saw and handled the skin of many different animals. The children had the opportunity to hold a hissing cockroach, but the high-light was probably seeing and holding a python.

Some children were very lucky to see a zoo keeper giving medicine to a tiger with a sore paw.

Thank you to all the adults who supported us on the visit and helped to make the day a success.

  • Year Two Educational Visits

    Wed 04 Mar 2015
America Class and Japan Class had a brilliant learning experience visiting Tesco and Southampton Art Gallery this week. In Tesco the children learned about making bread, the huge variety of fresh produce available and where these come from in the world and much more. It was fun tasting different cheeses and fruit. In the Gallery they learned about 2D and 3D flower art work using different media. They also enjoyed creating some plant rubbings and layering these patterns to show texture.
  • Exchange of Rag Dolls with French School

    Fri 27 Feb 2015

Over the past couple of years we have exchanged class pets with the French school. Muzzy and our school mascot ‘Sam’ have already been on very successful visits. We in return, enjoyed having Madame vache and Popi stay with us.

This year the French teacher, M Bertrand Grenier, made, and sent us two rag dolls. The pictures show how they came to life during their time with us. I would very much like to thank the children, parents and grandparents who helped make these transformations --- it was very much appreciated on both sides of the Channel. ‘We are over the moon!! Lauren and Harry have just arrived in our school. They are really beautiful. Please thank the parents and the pupils. We are preparing the parcel for you!! Our pupils were so pleased, so were the adults.’  - M. Grenier.

We are now looking forward to seeing how the French children transformed their dolls.                         Catherine Spiers – French teacher
