  • 999 Hero

    Fri 26 Feb 2016

As we were learning about heroes before half term, the children in Year One had a special visit from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance team. They came to teach the children some basic life-saving skills of making a 999 call. This was a very interesting visit and the children should now feel more confident in the event of an emergency at home or when you are out and about.

  • Hockey Competition

    Wed 24 Feb 2016

We had four teams of Year 2 children who  took part in a hockey competition playing against Year 2 children from local schools. They demonstrated great team work, collaborating together. We are pleased to announce that overall they won the competition on both pitches. Well done!

We are very proud of you all.

  • Safer Internet Day

    Tue 09 Feb 2016

As you may be aware Tuesday 9th February was Safer Internet Day, a celebration of the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. The charity Childnet has a website packed with information and resources including quizzes and short films, promoting safety online for a range of age groups. At school we teach e-safety in both our ICT and our PSHE curriculum. We use cartoons such as Hector’s World and stories like ‘Digiduck’s Big Decision’ and ‘Smartie the Penguin’ to discuss issues such as information and photo sharing by teaching about the possible consequences in an age appropriate way.

  • Our Choir at Thornden

    Fri 05 Feb 2016
On Wednesday evening our school choir took part in the Wyvern Pyramid Vocal Festival at Thornden Hall,

in a performance of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The children have been learning their parts over the last few weeks and at a workshop on Wednesday afternoon they put it together with pupils from our local schools and Barton Peveril College. The culmination was a fantastic evening concert for parents.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made us all feel very proud of them.
