  • Grounds Launch Day

    Fri 27 Sep 2013

    Grounds Launch Day

Folwing the developments and improvements to our school grounds last term, the children have been out and about learning in the grounds.  This was to launch Trailblazer – a scheme encouraging learning outdoors.  The children carried out a series of activities using their senses. These activities ranged from Year R making listening ears to listen to the sounds in the environment to Year 2 making pongy pots (some of which actually smelt quite nice).

Throughout this year the teachers will be increasing the opportunities for the children to realise that learning can take place anywhere.  This will help the children to respect and care for their environment, increase their general awareness of the world around them and increase their motivation and engagement in learning.  This will lead to the children receiving a certificate from Hampshire County Council, once their learning has been validated.

We are delighted with the new developments to our school grounds but there is still a lot more to be done.  If anyone is interested in supporting Mrs Francis create a tree trail, complete the wildlife garden, paint fences or help with general gardening please return the slip at the end of the Friday bulletin (27th September 2013)

  • Parent Governor Vacancy

    Fri 27 Sep 2013

We have a vacancy for a parent governor.

Fair Oak Infant School has always worked in partnership with parents to benefit the children. One of the most significant ways you can help us achieve this aim is to volunteer to be a parent governor. The governing body's main tasks are to support the school, ensure that pupils receive high quality education and plan for future development and improvement.

Individual governors have no individual authority but parent governors are welcomed as valued members of the team and play a vital role in bringing their perspective and knowledge to the Governing Body which has collective authority.

We feel sure that there are parents prepared to take on this important role and give their time and commitment to helping us to continue to improve the school's performance.

If you feel you are such a person please contact the school office for an application form which will need to be completed and returned to the school by 12.00 noon on Friday 27th September 2013.

If you have any questions regarding the role we can pass your details on to a current school governor who will get in touch with you before the deadline.

The guidelines giving full details about how vacancies are filled, are available from the School Office. You might also like to look at the information for prospective governors on the Hampshire County Council website www3.hants.gov.uk/education/governors . Please note that for the protection of children all governor appointments are subject to a vetting process and identity check.

If there are more applications than vacancies, we will hold an election and you will be sent a voting paper. You may return the ballot paper either via your child or by post.
