  • Safer Internet Day

    Tue 09 Feb 2016

As you may be aware Tuesday 9th February was Safer Internet Day, a celebration of the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. The charity Childnet has a website packed with information and resources including quizzes and short films, promoting safety online for a range of age groups. At school we teach e-safety in both our ICT and our PSHE curriculum. We use cartoons such as Hector’s World and stories like ‘Digiduck’s Big Decision’ and ‘Smartie the Penguin’ to discuss issues such as information and photo sharing by teaching about the possible consequences in an age appropriate way.

    Fri 29 Jan 2016

    Zany Zebra Update

At the deadline for Zany Zebra there were over 330 fabulous entries with some brilliant design ideas. With so many different ideas suggested we have spent this week sifting through the entries and used a selection of the design concepts to come up with a final unique design that reflects Fair Oak Infant School. The final design has been shared with the children in assembly today and now needs to be sent to Marwell for their approval before we can start work. Once we have received approval, we will of course share it with you.

  • Healthy Week

    Fri 29 Jan 2016

    Year R

As part of our PSHE we looked and thought about how we keep ourselves healthy. We talked about what we need to keep ourselves healthy. We also thought about how we can keep ourselves safe at school and who helps to keep us safe. Can your child tell you one of the people who keep them safe at school?

    Year 1

We started our week with an exciting Health Day. The children enjoyed participating in a variety of activities based around different aspects of Health. For example: the children challenged their physical strength within circuit training. They learnt about the importance of having a healthy diet in order to maintain a healthy mind. Finally the children joined in team building games and discussed the importance of being a good friend.

    Year 2

This week Year 2 focussed on being healthy by spending a day undertaking a wide range of activities that promoted both making healthy choices and physical and mental health and wellbeing. The children also learnt about e-safety and took part in games that encouraged team work and fair play. Activities were linked our school values - caring, respect, reflectiveness, creativity perseverance and collaboration.

“I have enjoyed doing the exercises with Mrs Honour because it was fun and I felt hea“We talked about feelings, being cross and angry and thinking about how we can make things better.” Rebekah lthy.” Anthony

I learned that 7 year olds need one hour of exercise every day”. Olivia

“I enjoyed playing ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?’. Jacob

  • Our Christmas Lunch

    Thu 10 Dec 2015
As Christmas music played and crackers were pulled, we all enjoyed our Christmas lunch. Many thanks must go to Helen Gale Ford in our School Kitchen and her team for managing to keep calm and serve all the children their delicious hot meal (400 in total) and Friends of Fair Oak Infant School for supplying the tablecloths and crackers for all the children
  • Toy Service

    Fri 04 Dec 2015

We were joined by the Salvation Army, Eastleigh for our annual Toy Service.  We all sang and enjoyed playing the tambourines.

We all watched the John Lewis Christmas advert, and reflected on how similar we were to the little girl giving gifts to others at this busy time of year.

Thank you all so very much for the donations of Christmas presents that will be so gratefully received by families less fortunate than ourselves within our local area.

  • Year 2 Knowle Park Visit

    Fri 02 Oct 2015
    Year 2
We have enjoyed visiting Knowle Park and finding out about different trees growing in Fair Oak. We looked at the leaves and bark to identify each tree. We also looked for signs of wildlife such as mole hills, feathers, nibbled leaves and cobwebs.  We even saw some living creatures such as a cricket, a ladybird and a worm
