Japanese Children's Day

Konichiwa!

Japan Class has recently celebrated Japanese Children’s Day.

“We all made carp kites and flew them in the very strong wind." Ceecee.

“Japanese families fly a carp kite for their boys. Oriental legend believes that a carp swam upstream and became a strong dragon. Families fly their kites hoping that their boys will grow up to become strong and healthy man.” Heather and Jasmine.

“It was very strange because we all wore our slippers!” Fred.

We feel very lucky because Mr Beeton brought us back a carp kite from when he visited Japan in the Easter holidays.” Tia.

Mr Beeton also brought us a traditional Japanese Kokeshi doll. Families make collections of these dolls for the girls.”
