Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is funding given to support children from low-income families who receive free school meals; it is also given for children who have been eligible for free school meals in the past 6 years as well as looked after children.

Why is it given?

Nationally there is a gap in attainment between children who receive free school meals and those who do not. The main purpose of the Pupil Premium is to close this gap by raising the amount of progress free school meal children make.

The Pupil Premium is intended to help us provide targeted support to improve the life chances of our free school meal children so that they can reach their full potential.

A smaller Pupil Premium is given to children whose parents serve in the armed forces.
