Starting School 2021

October 2020

Dear Parent,

Starting school is an important stage in your child’s development and, although September 2021 is a long way off, now is the time to think about choosing a school for your child.

Fair Oak Infant School is one of the largest Infant Schools in England, with a small family feel, and I am proud to be Headteacher here. At Fair Oak Infant School we aim for every child to be: a successful learner who enjoys learning, makes progress and achieves; a confident individual who is able to lead a safe, healthy and fulfilling life; and an international citizen who makes a positive contribution to society.

Coronavirus restrictions have brought many challenges to all our lives and the day to day running of our school. These restrictions have meant that we are, unfortunately, not able to invite you into school to take a look around. Hampshire County Council’s Public Health Team have made it very clear to schools that events in which people would gather in settings should not occur. Due to the size of our school, and based on the high number of people who booked onto tours last year, we are not able to offer individual tours. We also need to ensure that the bubbles we are working within in school are not compromised from having a large number of visitors within school.

If you are considering applying for a place at Fair Oak Infant School we are currently looking at creating a short video about our school, which we hope to upload onto our website towards the middle of November.

We will be hosting a virtual meeting over the coming weeks, through Zoom. This will include a short presentation about our school, followed by the opportunity to ask any general questions. If you would like to attend one of these meeting, please book at https://fois.eventbrite.co.uk.  Zoom links will be emailed out the day before each meeting.

If you have specific questions about your child starting school and would like to speak with a member of the Senior Leadership Team, please contact Mrs Blacknell in the School Office and she will be able to schedule a telephone appointment for you. If your child has additional needs and you would like to speak with our Inclusion Leader, again please contact Mrs Blacknell and she will ensure you receive a telephone call from Mrs Nelson.

Further information about school admissions can be found on Hampshire County Council’s website www.hants.gov.uk/admissions and further information about our school can be found on our school website www.fairoakinfant.co.uk.

If you are considering applying for a place I look forward to welcoming you to Fair Oak Infant School.

Yours sincerely
