Welcome
FAIR OAK INFANT SCHOOL
Fair Oak Infant School is a lively, innovative and successful four-form entry school
serving the villages of Fair Oak and Horton Heath. In January 2007 Ofsted said that
we provide an “outstanding quality of education” for our pupils.
The School has 12 bright, attractive teaching spaces plus a hall, library, ICT suite, music/drama room, cookery room & medical room. A conference room and three multi-purpose group rooms were completed in September 09. The school also has a central paved courtyard and Children’s World Garden which provide excellent outdoor teaching areas in addition to the attractive playground. The school is very well resourced.
Our curriculum is greatly enriched, broad and balanced: we have adopted the International Primary Curriculum to incorporate our international work and thinking skills and to reduce the overload in foundation subject objectives. There are many extra-curricular clubs run by staff and external providers, both during the lunch hour and after school.
Many things make our school unique. We have taught French in all year groups since 1992. We introduced peer massage five years ago. We also teach Philosophy for Children (P4C) with notable success. Our most outstanding feature is our commitment to the international dimension.
Fair Oak Infant School has continued to meet the Investors in People standards since 1997 and provides excellent opportunities for personal and professional development in line with the School’s Strategic Plan. As well as Investors in People, the school has gained two School Achievement Awards, the Basic Skills Quality Mark, the National Healthy Schools’ Standard, Silver Arts Mark, the Active Mark, the ICT Mark and the British Council’s International School Award (since 2005).
The staff are friendly, mutually supportive, hard-working and committed. They set themselves high standards and have high expectations of the children. They work well as individuals and as a team to provide very high levels of care and education for the children.
The children are lovely; friendly, keen to learn, caring and well behaved. They have a tremendous sense of pride in their school and are keen to contribute to its development.
Parents play a full and positive part in the life of the school and there is an active and successful Parent Staff Association. The school is also fortunate to have a very supportive Governing Body.
Fair Oak Infant School shares a site with Fair Oak Junior School and Wyvern College and is part of an active 7-strong Pyramid of Schools and Extended Schools cluster.
The school has a no-smoking policy and dress code.
